Doug endured years of breathing stale compressed air and seemingly endless toil in artificial light on his personal quest to tunnel through the Earth. Finally, in March of 2007, he broke through a frozen crust of chest deep snow somewhere near Warburg, Alberta. He opened his mouth wide, filled his lungs with the fresh crisp air and screamed, "I did it!"
